Austria's digitalisation projects
A clear mission: simplifying the future
Austria wants to and will make targeted use of digitalisation to further develop its competitiveness, innovative strength, prosperity, climate protection, health and cultural mediation - across all departments with business, science and society.
To actively harness the potential of artificial intelligence, Austria established the 'Advisory Board for Artificial Intelligence' as an advisory body.
This board addresses the opportunities, challenges, risks, and impacts of AI applications. On 28 February 2024, the Federal Chancellery (BKA) and the Ministry of Finance (BMF) introduced the AI Advisory Board, comprised of eleven experts who will advise the Federal Government on all matters related to artificial intelligence.
Austria's digitalisation priorities
- Boosting the Economy: Offering digital services like "Electronic start-up" (eGründung) on usp.gv.at to support businesses.
- Fostering Innovation: Creating a digital-friendly environment to stimulate growth and new ideas.
- Enhancing Citizen Services: Expanding digital offerings through oesterreich.gv.at to better serve the public.
- Coordinating Across Government: Implementing a dedicated digitalisation task force to unify efforts at the federal level.
Digital development in Austria is a comprehensive focus area. Key goals for administrative digitalisation include advancing process automation, enhancing internal communication, and improving engagement opportunities for citizens and businesses.
Austria is driving forward digitalisation to equip the nation for the future. By viewing digital transformation as a strategic opportunity for both society and the economy, Austria is committed to advancing digital administration and expanding digital services for everyone.
